The Elemental Alchemy wisdom tradition is an amazing resource to deepen your intuition, enhance your connection with nature and support your life's unfolding with the grace of the changing seasons...
There are so many resources to support health in this world. My passion as a doctor is to always look for the simplest balance of resources to provide the deepest healing support.
I was introduced to Naturopathic medicine while working at the Colorado Health Department in 1995. I was studying pre-medicine in college while working in the field as much as possible. An ND came to present at an in-service and I was amazed with the intelligence, passion and true art of her medical practice. In culmination from my work in the ER, home health care, nursing homes and STD clinics my experiences presented a pretty dismal approach to wellness. There was little room for hope that people could thrive, especially as they grew older or once they were diagnosed with a chronic disease....
My path led me to study medicine at the National College of Natural Medicine (now NUNM) to pursue a doctoral degree in Naturopathic Medicine and to study Classical Chinese Medicine. In Oregon, where I studied and practiced for several years, ND's have the same licensure requirements and responsibilities as MD's. I worked as a primary care physician for several years, until I returned to my home state of Colorado.
I've now been in private practice since 2008, seeing patients from many walks of life. I’ve focused the majority of my postgraduate research on the genetic links to chronic disease, endocrinology (hormones), immunology and environmental medicine. Daily, I read articles in scientific journals on outcomes of both allopathic and naturopathic medicine to stay ahead of the trends in medicine. However, I continuously find the greatest wisdom of medical care is already thoroughly detailed in the ancient texts of Chinese medicine, Ayurveda and the wisdom of Rudolf Steiner.
Parallel to my journey in healthcare, I have also studied many styles of farming and have had my own farm just outside of Lyons, Colorado since 2013. I have been deeply inspired working with horses and other animals, experiencing their reflection of health & nature’s balance. Working with the land is a constant teacher. A source of humility and nourishment, farming reminds us to return to the basic principles that activate life energy again and again.
As a Family Practice Doctor, I love to help guide individuals onto a path of thriving health and connection to their innate wisdom. It is common for people to find their way to my office who have complex health issues that western medicine has not been able to resolve. While this approach to health is successful in restoring vitality, natural medicine is also the best resource for sustaining health throughout our lives. Support for optimal growth and development along with treating colds, flu’s, sprains & aches can all be successfully navigated with natural medicine.
I am available for private practice patients on a very limited basis. Because of this, I was drawn to create online courses in an attempt to expand my reach with resources that I believe everyone should have access to. Learn more at stillwaterclinicandapothecary.com.
It is amazing to observe the changes that take place in individuals' health season after season with the implementation of natural medicine. It is an incredibly beautiful thing to witness the transformations that occur from the power of natural medicine and for people to experience themselves as more whole, healthy beings!
